Pastor Dr. Tony Evans Has Left the Pulpit

Dallas pastor Dr. Tony Evans has announced that he is stepping down due to sin. I’ve been watching Dr. Evans for many years and I’m absolutely heartbroken at his decision to stop preaching — after nearly 50 years of ministry. What sin he fell to has not been made public. However, according to Evans’ statement, the nature of this sin has been disclosed to his wife, children and church elders; he is forgiven just like all of us. Watch the video below to get more information.

Sin or not, I don’t think stepping down is a good move. What if the disciple’s had stepped down because of sinful mistakes; the word of God may not have gotten this far.

Dr. Evans said, “The foundation of our ministry has always been our commitment to the Word of God as the absolute supreme standard of truth to which we are to conform our lives,” Evans’ statement reads. “When we fall short of that standard due to sin, we are required to repent and restore our relationship with God. A number of years ago, I fell short of that standard. I am, therefore, required to apply the same biblical standard of repentance and restoration to myself that I have applied to others.”

I must say that nobody is perfect, we all sin — including pastors. We must pray for Dr. Evans and his family. May he receive God’s grace and peace.
