Hallelujah and Amen! Over 2000 years ago, Our Lord, King, Savior, Brother and Friend Jesus was given all authority in Heaven and on Earth. This has been given to Him by God the Father. Does this mean Jesus can do whatever He wants to do? Yes to a degree, but He still [obeys] the Father in all things. Jesus is very responsible with His authority; He won’t go against God’s will and plan for any of us — or for Himself.
Matthew 28:18 — And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
Jesus loves God Who is His Father so much, that He would never do anything that would hinder God’s will — He knows God’s will is perfect. Jesus has so much Love, Reverence, and Admiration for God, His Father; He literally gets the uttermost Joy when He is pleasing God. That’s what we should try to do as well.
John 8:29 – “And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.”
John 5:30 — “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of Him who sent me.”
Think of it from a Holy Kingdom viewpoint. A Kingdom perspective would mean: God is the Emperor (Creator of all) and Jesus, has earned the right through being brutally killed for the sins of all people, to be set as the King. That’s the most simplistic way to describe it. The King still answers to the Emperor, but the King does have the authority to do what is right for the Empire. If the King knows what outcome the Emperor expects in one situation or another, the King doesn’t ask; He automatically has the authority to do what’s right immediately Himself — to achieve the Emperor’s desired outcome.
For instance, when Jesus walked the Earth in the flesh, He had authority over all flesh.
John 17:2 – “as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
He healed many because He knew it was right and good for the Kingdom. But, if the Father (The Almighty Emperor) stepped in and told Him not to heal someone, Jesus obeyed — even if He really wanted to heal that person. Moreover, Jesus didn’t just go wherever He wanted to go on Earth; He went where God sent Him day by day, and doing God’s will. He taught everyone to do God’s will.
John 14:31 — “but so that the world may know that I love the Father, I do exactly as the Father commanded Me.”
Another example of the authority given to Jesus, is that everything is subject to Him. No one can go around Him! If the Angels have a question about something, they don’t go straight to the Father; they must go to the Angle above them. If the Angles above them aren’t sure, the highest Angel goes to Jesus. Jesus is the One Who is responsible for giving them their orders. That’s how the Kingdom is designed by God.
John 14:6 — Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
You and I, and everyone else who believes in Jesus are members of this Mighty Kingdom. But, God in His loving Grace allows us to go straight to Him; by prayer and supplication, but only in Jesus Name. So you see, no one can go around Jesus because He has authority — that’s why we ask in Jesus Name. Jesus is the reason we are members of the Kingdom of our Father God. When we pray God hears more than we say, answers more than we ask, and gives more than we imagine, in His own time and in His own way — for the Glory of His Mighty Kingdom!
John 15:16 — “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.”
Luke 12:32 — “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Luke 17:21 — “…For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”
We also have authority, but only in His name. We can’t just do anything we want. We would have destroyed everything by now if we could do what we want. Jesus allows us to do things that align with His will; His will is the Father’s will — not His own.
Luke 10:19 — “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
Mark 6:7 — “And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.”
Luke 10:17 — Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
He also gives us authority and free will to do evil things that aren’t God’s will for us. When people do evil we suffer consequences; the evil we did wasn’t His will — the consequences are.
That’s why our will is supposed to be His will. That’s where the phrase, “Let Jesus take the wheel” comes from. When we put our lives in the hands of Jesus, He takes the wheel and drives us where we should be. It’s not always an easy or glamorous will all the time. But it will have easier seasons.
During the easier seasons it’s good to share the joyful times with the people you love most. Enjoy those times while they last. Because it’s important to remember, we are at war here on Earth and you are a soldier in the war for the Kingdom of God.
Jesus has been given the authority to judge all people; God gave him that task because God trusts Jesus’ judgement. And of course God knows how Jesus is going to judge every single person — God sees everyone’s future including Jesus’.
John 5:22 – “For the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgment to the Son,”
The authority of Jesus is Mighty indeed! He controls everything, even the demons. These demons are subject to Jesus, they can’t go beyond His boundaries.
Mark 1:27 — Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”
Luke 10:17 — Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
Isaiah 59:19 — So shall they fear The name of the LORD from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.
Mark 3:11 — And the unclean spirits, whenever they saw Him, fell down before Him and cried out, saying, “You are the Son of God.”
God knows He can trust Jesus to set perfect and precise boundaries. That’s why Jesus said, “fear not.” We have nothing to fear because Jesus loves us; He protects us with His Angles that are under His authority.
Jesus is most known for His authority to heal, just because you haven’t been healed yet doesn’t mean God is mad at you — nobody gets healed as soon as they get sick. Have faith, because nobody gets healed without faith either. God’s timing is perfect, just trust and believe.
Matthew 13:58 — “Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.”
Our finances are in His hands also, Jesus says if and when we’ll be successful at everything we do. His authority over our finances is for our good; the same as His authority over everything else in our lives. We usually want our endeavors to reap instant success. That’s seldom the case, even if it’s what Jesus really wants you to do. It all comes together in His time.
Deuteronomy 8:18 — “And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth,…”
It’s similar for evil people who do wrong to get wealth. He can ruin their plans whenever He wants to. Jesus has appointed times for that, but rest assure if Jesus views how you make money as evil — you will suffer serious consequences for it. Because in His eyes you’re working for Satan. Which means you’re working against His Kingdom, and most likely tempting His people to do the same. That’s why Jesus views it as working for Satan. You’re helping Satan recruit more people to make ill gotten gain — for you!
Matthew 16:26 — For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
If you die while still living that lifestyle you go to hell because you chose to work for Satan — Satan pays very well to get people to hell. The only way to avoid hell is to repent, leave that crowd and follow Jesus. Repent means to stop and go to God; if you don’t repent, you die in a sinful lifestyle and go to hell.
Luke 13:5 — “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Not only you go, but you lead others to hell also. Mainly because that lifestyle causes you to lead others to it, which means you’re scattering people away from Jesus. You’re either with Jesus or against Jesus — you can’t have it both ways.
Matthew 12:30 – “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
And not everyone who believes in Jesus goes to Heaven; if they continue to do wrong they still go to hell. Jesus explained that clearly in the book of Matthew.
Matthew 7:21-23 — “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.”
Trust in the authority of Jesus and know that He will do what’s best for you — no matter how things look. His authority covers ever aspect of everyone’s lives no matter rich or poor.
So you see, Jesus can be trusted by God to have authority over all things. If God can trust Jesus, shouldn’t you? I hope this clears some things up for you about the authority given to Jesus by The Almighty God.
