Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson announced on Tuesday that he will be bringing a new version of his show to Twitter. This marks Carlson’s first public remarks regarding his future post-Fox plans. He mentioned that the show would be the same one that he has been doing for the last six and a half years but will now be available on Twitter. In addition, he hinted at some other things that they will be bringing to the show, which he did not elaborate on in the video.
Carlson praised Twitter, which was acquired by Tesla owner Elon Musk last year, for being one of the few remaining platforms that allow free speech. He argued that free speech is the main right that people have and without it, they have no other rights. According to him, speech is the fundamental prerequisite for democracy and is enshrined in the first of the United States’ Constitutional amendments.
The video did not provide any details about the length of the show, its start date, or whether there was an agreement with Musk. There were unconfirmed reports this week claiming that Carlson spoke with Musk about a possible program on the social media network.
It is worth noting that Carlson’s announcement video has already received millions of views and impressions on Twitter. In the past, his videos have generated a considerable amount of attention and engagement from users.
Musk also weighed in on the matter, noting that Tucker is subject to the same rules and rewards of all content creators on the platform. He added that rewards mean subscriptions and advertising revenue share, which are a function of how many people subscribe and the advertising views associated with the content. Musk hopes that many others also choose to be content creators on the platform.
