It’s very important to let the past go and move boldly forward in love and purpose for God. We are not created to carry our past sins and regrets into our destiny with God. He loves us and has already forgiven us when we ask, so let it go. Ask God to help you let go of the regret, revenge, and pain of yesterday.
“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.” – Isaiah 43:18
We also aren’t created to worry about tomorrow, one day at a time is how God wants us to live each day. God has already planned everything you’ll need not only for tomorrow, but for everyday for eternity. God holds our future in His loving hands of protection. Leave all to Him knowing all is well in His power.
“Take therefore no thought for the morrow:for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil there of.” – Matthew 6:34
I can assure you that regret is a pathway to revenge, and that’s going to get us to hell. When we regret we succumb to sadness, and sadness always leads to anger also. Give all your sadness, anger and regret to God, He will handle anything that has happened to you in the past, your job is to enjoy the present. And also to not worry about the future. We are supposed to be joyful for everyday, without regret of the past or worry about the future.
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalm 118:24
I understand how hard it is to forgive certain things, and get past the regret of our own failures. Nonetheless, we must or we will go to hell ourselves. Satan wants us to regret our past and feel bitter about things that have happened to us. Don’t let Satan win, defeat him by loving God and letting go of our past failures and the pain caused by others.
Think of it this way, would an athlete that’s running a race take along uniforms and shoes from past races into the current race? Of course not, because that athlete would never win a race. But, that’s exactly what we do when we bring our regret into a new day. Don’t let it be so with you, God has forgiven your past, and He has great plans for your future.
