Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has formally initiated his bid for the presidency in a video released by his political team.
DeSantis asserts in the video, which was first shared with Fox News, that our border is in a state of chaos, our cities are plagued by crime, and the federal government is making it harder for families to make ends meet. He criticizes the president for faltering in the face of these challenges.

The governor contends that the decline of our nation is a choice we have made, but success is within our reach. He believes that freedom is worth fighting for and advocates for restoring sanity to our society, normalcy to our communities, and integrity to our institutions. DeSantis emphasizes the importance of truth as the foundation of our actions and calls for common sense to become a prevalent virtue. He cites Florida as an example of these principles in action.
After much anticipation and speculation, the DeSantis campaign unveiled the launch video alongside the governor’s official announcement of his candidacy on Twitter. He appeared for an interview with Elon Musk, the business magnate and owner of Twitter, at 6pm ET.
In the video, DeSantis highlights his accomplishments in Florida, emphasizing the prioritization of facts over fear, education over indoctrination, and law and order over rioting and disorder. He declares that they stood strong to preserve freedom and demonstrates that it is possible to revitalize America with courage and strength.
The video shows DeSantis walking up to a stage adorned with a large American flag, where he delivers his speech.
The release of the video comes a few hours after DeSantis filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission, officially commencing his presidential campaign.
This move by DeSantis aligns with his scheduled meetings this week with major financial supporters. The filing with the FEC enables DeSantis to directly request contributions from influential donors and bundlers he will be meeting with in Miami, Florida, starting on Thursday.
