Wikipedia should not be the main source of information for anyone, it’s just not trustworthy. I’ve used Wikipedia for years in my younger days. I thought it was the best tool on the internet; I found out over time that it isn’t a very reliable source of information on everything.
The reliability of Wikipedia has been subject to mixed results in studies and surveys, with findings being varied and inconsistent. In the 2000s, Wikipedia’s reliability was frequently criticized, but it has improved over time and has been generally praised in the late 2010s and early 2020s [1]. That’s what Wikipedia says about itself. Do you really trust their own assessment of themselves?
Along the way it became extremely bias in its views. This resulted in bias information being shared everywhere from Wikipedia without scrutiny. The left seems to love it; it feeds their narratives. Hence Wikipedia’s rave reviews as of late. As long as Wikipedia stays bias the “woke” culture will say it’s reliable.
However, Wikipedia is seldom a reliable source for research. It is not a credible source to cite from, as multiple users can edit the content, and it is not safe to assume that the facts presented there have been checked before publishing them [2]. Furthermore, many entries are not well-documented or up-to-date [3].
There is false information on Wikipedia that has been proven false, yet it still remains unchanged. It doesn’t take long to edit the information, the leftist run company just refuses to input the right information — on key issues.
Overall, while Wikipedia can be a good starting point for research, it is not a reliable source and should not be used as a primary source for research.
